happy picture Friday.

Happy Friday! This picture makes me grin big when I look at it.
I saw one of the sweetest couples on the train this morning... making their way into D-town. They looked like very long time companions and best friends, but moreover, what moved me is that they appeared still so in love and so attuned to the other individuals wants and needs. They were just exchanging information in the easiest fashion, both observing a map of Dallas, and one would sincerely listen to the other for their thoughts and ideas. They were going on a little adventure in Downtown Dallas together(or so I conjured up in my head). Being not one year yet into marriage, it makes me so excited to grow old with my best friend and continue to do life with him... from the little details of going to the grocery to the changing of life's seasons, till we are like Exhibit A from the train today. I looked up what companion meant... (I have been on a researching kick) and did you know "companion" also means "circle." I love this. My counterpart encompasses, encloses, and envelopes me. We coil, revolve, and orbit around each other... he's my other semi- circle.
"The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration. " - Pearl S. Buck
Here's to finding, enjoying, and being with your other semi- circle.

on my heart.

"Look here, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business and make a profit.' How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog... it's here a little while, then it's gone. What you ought to say is, 'If they Lord wants us to, we wil live and do this or that.' Otherwise, you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is complete evil."

classy & chic.

A photoshoot re-creation of Paris in the 1960's by Melissa. I love how chic the women look... all women should be "classy & fabulous" as CoCo Chanel says. Classy & Fabulous...

From here on out, every Friday at this blog is dedicated to scouring the internet for the happiest photo I can possibly find. I think it will make the day creep by just a bit faster for me..

Ok, one more, because I just can't help it. I mean, this kid is legit.

Mr. Adrian Rogers, you were right so long ago.

I have you white paten pumps, I need you red dress.

where my head is at today....

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." ~~ The late Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931

I know politics right now are everywhere... but what is going on right now will affect generations for years to come. Pay attention.

Dear CS4

Dear CS4,
I would like to own you. I would very much like for you to be installed on my computer at a very reasonable price. I would be extremely pleased if you appeared at home on my lil laptop for my designing pleasures. However, right now you are outrageously priced. Right now, upgrading does not fit in my reccesionista plans. Right now, I will have to wait until Obama is done taking all our money. I am sorry, by the time I am able buy you, I will probably loose my drive to work, be productive, or succeed, so you will be of no use to me... or my children... or my grandchildren.
Sincerely,
A girl who is very confused about this "change"

wishin & hopin

Isn't this book bag from Assouline great? Of course it is, it is designed/made by Cole Haan...
If I had an extra $570.00 just laying around, I would buy this leather tote to carry around my all my reading pleasures with for $450.00, along with this 1999 edition of Vanity Fair mag with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy on the cover for $30.00. (Its ok, its a dream world, I can spend thirty bones on one mag.) I would also purchase 9 Heads, a fashion illustration book that I have wanted for about 4 years now for a whoppin $140.00.
Oh, and while I'm at it, I would spend an extra couple G's on this tree house and this fab. reading chair to snuggle up with on the inside.

A girl can dream, right?

kitchys.

I love kitchens and literally everything about them...it is defiantly the place where I spend the most time. I love the smells, aesthetics, and homey feeling you get when you step in... I especially love the tastes. :) Food is my love language... I love to eat it, bake it, cook it, and give it with and for others. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to me that I am always drawn their design elements over any other room... in my dream home, the kitchen will be all white with wooden counters, but these kitchens above are pretty awesome. Ok fine, don't twist my arm, I would take any of them. Sorry for those of you who might be sick of my kitchen pics.

I am blessed to live with, be married to, and be in love with my best friend.
I am also blessed that he builds forts, sings, and dances with me. quite frequently.
He's pretty much the frosting on my cupcake. :)

recessionista.

I found a new favorite blog... frugalfashionista.
check it out... I am obsessed with it... and while my place of occupation does not neccesarily support the idea of buying merchandise, eh hem, well affordable... I wholehartedly believe in the fact that you can dress impeccably on a dime. This site is must see stop everyday now for me...

love.

this picture makes me smile from ear to ear. thats all.

ahhh.

I have attempted, for the past year, to budget in fresh floral for our home every(-ish) week (-ish). To me, it is one of the happiest things in life... I am not talking potted flowers, I am referring to a beautiful clear vase with fresh water, maybe some fruit, and cut with perfectly angled stems. I am not a rose girl, either, at all... I would rather have tulips, or hydrangeas, or peonies... any day. (Ryan learned this quickly) In staying loyal to my recessionista 2009 roots, I have looked for more cost effective variations... for example, I found a hearty $5.00 pack of tulips from Walmart that lasted pretty much 2 weeks, or I have controlled my greedy lil hands and just bought just one large hydrangea and separated it into multiple bud vases.... I even resorted to buying hyperricum berry for way cheap and putting it in a vintage milk bottle...
While I know everyone does not love fresh flowers as much as the next, please try, just for me, just for one day... and put some next to your bed, or in your bathroom... and I swear your day will start out a touch bit cheerier. God did not put flowers here on the planet earth to rot in Tom Thumb plastic bins people...

the lodge.

One of my best freinds, Miss Sarah Etherine Langston came and graced Dallas with her presence this weekend. Of course, most of her visit was a sweet time to catch up with her and hang out, but some of it, rightfully so, was college reminising. I lived with 7, yes 7 girls, my senior year... in the Lodge. (which for 12 years prior to us, consisted of all boys inhabiting it.) It was a crazy, crazy(dirty) house, but because of these sweet girls, I can look back at Baylor University, and say with complete assuredness that they made Baylor what it is for me, and a lot of who I am today. This post is dedicated to the Lodge... I think that is all that needs to be said. Miss you all dearly... roll out. and peace out.

little marc

Little Marc's Fall 08 RTW line... I know its old, but this Spring '09 pics ( I didn't want to post) are a little goth for 4 year olds. I typically love his stuff, but I really don't need my kindegartener borrowing my black eyeliner from me... all this to say, I aspire to dress my kiddies this way one day, just without the price tag.
Check out the full line... so stinking cute.

E & J.

MK & Ash, honestly, who is not intruiged/ infatuated with them? In the crazy place called Hollywood, they are always some of the cutestest, chicest, trendiest girls in celebrity world, or for that mattter gracing the pages of US mag. I mean, sometimes they manage to stagger very close to the fine line of homelessness, however, they never tred over. (If they toted a bottle in a brown sack as an accessory or they cruised around in Kroger shopping carts with the top perpetually down... hhhmmmm, they might teter in...) However, they DO have a unique style, and they seem to do it all their own. They never look boring. ever. Elizabeth & James, one of their labels, will be two years old this year!! I know they have been around, but I have been playing with some of their product for work, and I LOVE their new stuff! Check out their new threads at netaporter.
