my kitchen.

one can dream, right?
monochromatic white paired iwth dark, distressed hardwoods = yes please.

Liv.

I have always been intrigued by Liv Tyler... I guess ever since she wore her plaid mini skirt in Empire Records or had animal crackers crawling across her in Armegeddon.

Ellen Von Unwerth shot these of her... you may know her, she is a German Photgrapher who became famous after she shot Claudia Schiffer for Guess? Jeans. She is primarily known for rather erotic feminine shots that I don't at all feel too inclined to post here, or even link to. (Check out at your own risk. )
I do love these raw shots of Liv and thought I would share.

shimmer...

I love sequins... but not on everything. I would never consider myself a glitter girl, but classy, vintage sequins here and there is always nice when paired with a neutral or vintage ensemble. (esp. with sweater textures and solids) Designers are leaning towards more shimmer, metallics, lurex and shine for little recessionistas. I did some research and plastic and metallic disks are fairly cheap to create and give you a lot of bang for the buck. Derek Lam is one of my favs doing this... he is not designing with the typical black garb or bland palette that have been reminiscent of past recessions...
Glitz it up ladies (not Mariah Style.. think more Blake Lively) and be prepared for A LOT of it this Spring. Yipee!

its here.

Yesterday everyone stopped to watch history be made...
People in my office heaved, screamed, cried, and literally fell down in hysterics... I have never seen such an overwhelming display of emotions before.

While there are MANY policy's of Obama's I defiantly do not agree with, (besides the fact that all of dysfunctional Hollywood supports him, hey, why not, lets follow one more thing they do...) it IS time for change. NOT necessarily a change from Bush, but a mind set change of this country. It is inspiring to be a part of this era in history where we are given a charge that is is OUR responsibility, (and where the brown can stick around). Its about time we own up to our actions, take responsibility for our families, businesses, neighbors... It IS neat to see the country come together for a cause that is bigger than politics. While I might not agree with how Obama believes he is going to achieve this, I do believe in the cause.

Whether or not you voted for Barrack or not, he is our President and he deserves at least that respect. I only wish that the 3 million people in the mall yesterday could have given Bush, at the least, that credit. (The classless display of booing and singing represent NOTHING that they claim to want.) Bush served our country for 8 years... whether we agree with his decisions or not, I believe he did them with pure motives and to the best of his ability. Yesterday, he arrived in Midland and stated that he is "still proud to look in the mirror," and that "you can say all you want to say, but we have NOT been attacked in the past 7 years." Thank you George W. Bus for serving our country and giving us your all.

Here's to the next 4 years, I think it is fair to say, that we all are excited to see what is ahead. (and getting to see Malia & Sasha grow up!)

one day...

I have been searching for cool pinwheel pics for about 45 minutes for work and came across this little nugget on my quest... she is prob. the most precious thing I have seen in a while.

This picture, to me, is the epitome of Summer or the 4th of July. I love this little hippie chic toddler... I imagine her posh parents are sun bathing on lawn chairs behind the camera, sippin on watermelon mojitos while the sprinklers cool them off, reading W magazine and Men's Health. They are relaxing before a big party with all their best friends that night, out by the lake... they are excited to light fireworks, toast marshmallows, and dive into the red velvet birthday cake for the USA turning 233.

ahhhh, can't wait for the sun... let's make this Summer carefree in 2009... last year's was defiantly too much of a doozie.

Here's to MLK and the one of the biggest day's in America's History tomorrow...

fever.

I have puppy fever... mainly Vizsla (Hungarian breed of pointing dog) fever. I think these lil canines are so beautiful... Ry & I are not opposed to labs, but these little presh pups steal my heart every time I look at them. ( I google search them a lot! )

A Cup of Jo posted this link on dog whisperers from the New York Times... pretty interesting.

also, on this note, if you have not seen Marley and Me, IT IS A MUST. I know it might have some cheese smothered on it, but it by far the most wholesome, family-value oriented movie that I have seen in a while. Yes, it indeed makes you heave and bawl, but come on, who doesn't need a good cry?
its a dog eat dog world.

:: slight fear ::

While I was riding up the 27 floors to get to my office this morning, it reminded me of this video... I am sure you have seen it: the guy that gets stuck in the elevator for almost 2 days! The video is time elapsed, and it is so interesting to observe his behaviors... I really, don't know what I would do.... Watch here!

lack there of.

check out these awesome photos of abandoned swimming pools.

These pics serve as my New Years Resolution reminder to drink more water...
along with sending more stamped mail, taking more pictures, trying a new recipe every week, reading in bed & for that matter, reading my bible more often, soaking up time at home with Ry, eating less sugar, stirring up my creative side everyday, and talking to someone out of my comfort zone every day.
But I think I'll start with not being dehydrated...

i wanna go back.

One of my best friends just left for her honeymoon... and another one just returned. 2008 brought such joy and sorrow it is hard to fully wrap my head around the entirety of all that occurred. Aside from the actual act of get married and our wedding, going to Quamea, Fiji on my honeymoon, with my best friend and husband, was by far the highlight of the year. As the sleet comes down outside our office windows right now, Ryan just sent me these pics and as I look at them, I can't help but want to go play in the sand. We didn't want to do the typical honeymoon, (we didn't really lay by the beach - I think only once?) we got to explore, hike, skid down natural water slides, snorkel, make (good) friends with the amazing Fijians, drink from coconuts and try Kava, basket weave, attend a Fijian concert, tour a pearl farm, have a picnics on the beach, cliff jump, go into town and stand on the international dateline, swim in the waterfalls, get massages on the beach, Kayak and snorkel some more. Ryan and I like to play and take advantage, and I wouldn't have it any other way. We play hard and leave tired, but to us, that's the only way to do it.
