pretty little ditties.

Talented, fabulous Sarah Jane is my little etsy find of the week... her illustrations are so honest & sweet.

g.g.

Just thought you should know, I still swoon when I see them...
and I don't even really watch TV... but, this thought-provoking, deep, intellectual, sophisticated, worthwhile, and wholesome show happens to be the only thing I will. not. miss. Go figure?
Here's to my Pointless Post of the week.

Vena Cava.

Vena Cava zip dress for the Gap, (available Today!) for $88.
The Gap will unveil its new khaki-theme Design Edition collection designed by 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Alexander Wang and runners up Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava, and also the hat designer Albertus Swanepoel.
Love that high end fashion design is available at any price point...

my dream, circa 1989....

"Barbie Foot" was designed by Chloe Ruchon. It's a hot pink indoor football game that pays homage to every little girl's best friend and her brother's fuse ball game. It is part of the DMY childrens exhibition at the Berlin design festival this year.
For a girl who at one time had 81 Barbies, and the Mansion, Convertable, Minivan, McDonald's, Swimming pool, and hand sewn designer couture gowns created by her aunt, for Barbie, this would have put the cherry on top... :)

3.

These two girls are nourishing to my soul:

a) They have the ability to make me feel so at home and so understood.

b) They make me laugh till I have tears in my eyes.

c) They view, do, and get life the same way I do.

d) They sometimes seem to just complete me.

e) They are some of my dearest and best friends.

f) They sometimes feel like clones of myself.

g) They frustrate me because we don't ever get to spend enough time together.

h) They are going to kill me for posting this picture.

i love you two more than you know.

Julie & Julia was previewed before my mom & I saw Valentino about a month ago.
"Meryl Streep is Julia Child and Amy Adams is Julie Powell in writer-director Nora Ephron’s adaptation of two bestselling memoirs: Powell’s Julie & Julia and My Life in France, by Julia Child with Alex Prud’homme. Based on two true stories, Julie & Julia intertwines the lives of two women who, though separated by time and space, are both at loose ends…
until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible."
I couldn't have said it better, myself.
My mom and I turned to eachother after the preview was over and really didn't have to say anything... we will be waiting in line August 7th. This movie looks right up our alley...

Klum.

How do you not love her... married to Seal, a sassy, down to earth personality, and a sense of style that puts even Miss Wintour, herself, to shame? {images from June 2009, issue of Vogue Deutsch, or Vogue Germany} After 3 Kids, she is looking pretty darn hot...

uh oh, more tree houses...

I mean, I believe I am destined to retire & be carried out feet first from a tree house one day... I am so intrigued & drawn to them. I don't know if it's because it feels like you are Wendy from Peter Pan, or that it's that you are up in the air, pseudo flying with the sparrows... but at the least, if I can't have an adult tree house, our kids are going to have a groovy one someday. mark. my. words. {hint: you'll know where to find me when dinner should be on the table... tee hee}

I am patiently awaiting to officially request a sewing machine for my birthday in September, but man, o man, these are the kinds of things that make me want one today. How sweet is this from, {my new fav. blog} twig&thistle. This is most definatly frameable...

H.

Hermès just does it does it right. agree? If I had some fantasy money (ahem, $4,000) just laying around, I think an Hermès bike would suit me just fine. A bright orange bike to cruise around on to get my library books and pick up groceries would be rather fantastic. Or, you know, I wouldn't mind the baguette prop plane... either form of transportation would do. {only if i could get it off the ground before slathering honey on it & consuming}

get out there & conquer the world...

Today is Monday and I typically attempt to make my Mondays a fresh start to the week... to be productive, eat a good & hearty breakfast, stay organized, and begin with the right outlook. The weather was gorgeous this weekend... we spent almost every minute outdoors working in the backyard & enjoyed every meal on the back porch... however this Monday morning, waking up, the thought of being cooped up inside was not too enticing...
so today, I will make this is my mantra:
"Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves. "- Dale Carnegie
I will do my best & step out in the world like the little boys above...
then tonight, I will go play... and turn up the music loud, sit on our back porch, eat, read, and swim some more.
